Foster Program Stalworth Kennels is now in the development phase of a new Foster Care Program. As a result we are actively seeking loving and motivated families to serve as foster homes for prospective working puppies and adolescent dogs. Occasionally, we may also seek placement for young or adult breeding stock. Families are carefully screened prior to acceptance into the Forster Care Program. Once approved, families will be paired with a suitable dog or puppy. Stalworth Kennels will cover associated expenses of food and vet care for candidates placed into the Foster Care Program. In conjunction with our Foster Care Program, Stalworth Kennels has also develop a formal Puppy Program. The Puppy Program is intended to provide our puppies with the best possible advantage for successful futures in law enforcement. Puppies and young dogs placed in Foster Care will be expected to participate in our Puppy Program and will be raised according to their greatest working potential. Along with the opportunity to foster a prospective working dog from Stalworth Kennels you will enjoy many great moments and hopefully achieve many things with your new canine partner. You will undoubtedly develop an incredible bond with this magnificent animal. It is therefore crucial that you understand in advance that in many cases you will be required to give the dog up at approximately 12 to 18 months of age. The primary intention of the Foster Care Program is to provide our top working candidates with the best opportunities to develop into successful working dogs. Ideally, this will mean advancing into careers serving our communities as qualified police service dogs working actively in the field of law enforcement. Dogs intended for this purpose are generally put through the final selection phase between 18 and 24 months of age. We understand that it can be difficult to part with a dog that you have raised so carefully, however along with your sacrifice comes a great sense of satisfaction and pride. It is an amazing thing to witness a dog that you are connected so closely with succeed in the job that he was bred and raised to perform... serving and protecting our communities. In the case of fostering our breeding stock; the dog would most likely remain with you and your family for the duration of his/her life. However in this scenario it must be clearly understood that the dog will be required to return to Stalworth Kennels for breeding purposes periodically throughout the dog's prime breeding years. If you are interested in enrolling in this exciting program and would like to offer one of our dogs or puppies a home with your family through the Foster Care Program please contact us directly for an application or for more details.
