| | In support of the Heart Of Oak Farm mission, an
educational outreach program has been designed. The purpose of this
program is to conduct, encourage, and support educational initiatives
within the community.
Education is of the up most importance in caring for animals in an
effective and humane manner. Heart Of Oak Farm is dedicated to community
education. Ignorance and a lack of education are a dominant factor in
dog bites, behavior problems, illness & disease, abandonment, and in
many cases of cruelty and neglect of animals. In addition to these
harsh effects against animals there are now links being made between
animal cruelty and violence against people. Through community
educational awareness programs we can help prevent many of these
avoidable scenarios... protecting ourselves, our pets, and the public.
Assisting our schools and educational institutions is one way that we
can educate our children in the proper care and handling of animals.
This includes but is not limited to dog bite prevention, dealing with
strange or injured animals, care and handling of pets, basic animal
behaviors & emotions, and basic training techniques. These issues will
help our children have a better understanding of our relationship with
animals and how to care for and handle them safely.
Education however, does not stop at the children. We can all benefit
from expanding our knowledge in animal husbandry and behavior. Heart Of
Oak Farm will work openly with any group, organization, or individual
who is interested in furthering their education of animals and animal
care.
Complimenting our services of pre-adoption and post-adoption consulting
we can also assist people in locating suitable animals as pets. Although
we do not sell or adopt out animals directly, we are willing to work
with shelters, rescue groups, responsible breeders, and associations to
help find suitable homes for owned, rescued, or abandoned animals who
require relocation into loving homes and families.
