Search and Rescue K9 (in training) - British Columbia, Canada
10 May 2007
Dear Melanie and Peter
Adara came to me on May 2nd 2007. She is everything you've explained, and a whole lot more. Thank you so much for putting your trust in me. That really means a lot!
She strives to work, and please the handler. No matter who it is. I love her so much. My goals with her are to build what you've started and promote her later on after title and certificates
are reached. I will promote her in parades and within our society public functions. I think learning German was a great thing, and is so important to her training and progression.
I plan to title her in Obedience, Tracking and Certify her in Ground Search and Rescue. My motivation is non-stoppable and so is Adara. She is keen and very explorative. She is a natural indicator and has excellent drives and endurance. That said with a little help on my end Adara could go all day. She loves her job, and has excellent lines to back that up. So thank you so much Peter and Melanie for making this all happen for me Since I've had her home, she has spent sometime in my home. She is a pleasure to have in the house actually. She guards the yard too which is really great since I live alone. Adara gives me kisses and cuddles with me too. Although I think she misses you! I think she has dealt with the transition into my home very good. So saying that, she has solid nerves. Which I hold in high regard I also like Adara's size. Adara is very well built, and has nice big bone. I am happy with her stocky structure and her big beautiful head. Her eyes are nice and dark too. She is overall, nicely proportional to her body structure. Her favourite toy is a tennis ball at my home. I will be introducing some tugs also for reward purposes. To keep her drive stimulated. Working dogs need to be stimulated all the time. Tugging is fun to them and is an ultimate reward after a find!!!!!!! Keep you posted with the hard core training!!!
Adara has done one Grid Search Pattern since I've owned her, which means she is trained to run left and right on a downwind scenerio in a field. I have ran Adara with
the wind blowing towards her nose bringing the scent particles towards her. She captures the scent partcles with her keen nose and runs towards the articles left by the victim as a clue that the
victim has been in the area, Adara does a natural head snap towards the artcle and is indicating with a sit or a "sitz" in German. The dog's natual ability to detect scent from the air is trained
in this manner through careful progression of time and distance. This in turn conditions Adara to become a brighter and better searcher for Ground Search and Rescue "task ready" deployment......I
really hope to make you proud and save a life with her in the not so distant future. That is my dream and my new found passion.
