ABOUT OUR KENNEL Stalworth Kennels & K9 Services specializes in the breeding and training of quality working dogs. Our goal is to produce high-drive working dogs suitable for Law Enforcement, Search & Rescue, Sport and family companionship. The foundation of our program is focused primarily on our ability to produce even tempered dogs with strong working abilities. Dogs who are intelligent, sociable and naturally high-drive. Our personal preference is for the old style European working dogs. Dogs who are structurally correct with dark rich pigmentation and who possess strong nerves, substantial bone, good physical strength, stamina, athletic ability and a willingness to work for the handler in all phases (tracking, obedience, defense & air scent). We strive to raise dogs who are of sound character and overall ability, who are manageable in their work and are stable in social situations. Our breeding dogs are carefully selected from the finest European working lines. Their pedigrees reflect the true working ability of their ancestry, containing individuals who are themselves certified police service dogs, search & rescue dogs, or top end competition dogs... and have proven themselves as producers of such.
OUR PROGRAM: On the farm we raise and train a select number of quality puppies or dogs year round. Litters are planned in advance with selected puppies available for adoption. Typically we will hold back several individuals from each litter. We will then raise and train these individuals over the next several months or years. Ultimately they will either be kept for future use in our breeding program or sold as young adults to law enforcement agencies or active working homes. All puppies / dogs are evaluated based on health, structure, drive and temperament prior to being placed into new homes. We strive to raise dogs who have strong working abilities, high drives, are stable in social situations, and are structurally, behaviorally and genetically sound. We love to see dogs who have natural athletic ability, pronounced courage, intensity & heart... combined with a solid build, a pleasing appearance and rich colour pigmentation. Our dogs are from proven European lines and are bred to serve a variety of roles. Whether you are a police force in search of the ideal working dog or an individual looking for the perfect family companion we have some of the best dogs available. SELECTION PROCESS: Our dogs are of the highest genetic quality and are carefully selected prior to admittance into our program. Bloodlines are predominantly composed of old Czech and Slovak working lines but also contain some old style German working lines. All breeding dogs must have certified hips prior to breeding!! Dogs or puppies purchased through our breeding program are sold with a guarantee against genetic defects. Dogs should exhibit a keen desire to work and tend to develop very close bonds with their handlers and families. Prior to adopting a dog / puppy from our kennel all prospective buyers are carefully screened. The information obtained during the interview phase is then reviewed and used to match the buyer with an appropriate dog or puppy. While we enjoy allowing buyers the freedom to select their own puppy (and actively seek their input throughout the selection process) we find the greatest long-term success in narrowing the selection to a few individuals whom we feel to be the most suitable for their specific needs. The information provided during the interview phase combined with the evaluation scores of the individual dog or puppy are crucial in determining an appropriate dog/handler match. Ideally dogs and puppies are placed into operational working K9 positions or adopted into active family homes.
ONGOING SUPPORT: Following placement, we continue to be available to our buyers as needed for ongoing support. We encourage all buyers to remain in contact with us throughout the life of the dog. All dogs are sold on a non-breeding agreement, which can be lifted at the owner's expense once the dog has reached 18 to 24 months of age and has met the appropriate criteria (i.e.: dog has received appropriate OFA or OVC certification to indicate the hips & elbows are free of genetic defect and has attained a minimum of one approved performance title or working certification).
